JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Estimator will be primarily responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for railing products and projects. This role will serve as the lead on the estimation team, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Estimation Process:
    • Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation to create comprehensive cost estimates.
    • Coordinate with the design and engineering team to obtain an accurate understanding of product specifications and requirements.
    • Use specialized software and tools to assist in the estimation process.
  • Leadership & Coordination:
    • Lead, mentor, and guide junior estimators in their day-to-day tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
    • Coordinate with sales, project management, and production teams to ensure alignment between estimated and actual costs.
    • Regularly review and update cost standards based on market trends and historical data.
  • Client Relations:
    • Prepare and present detailed and summarized cost estimates to clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Address any questions or concerns related to estimates in a timely and professional manner.
    • Assist the sales team in the preparation of proposals and bids.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continually improve the estimation process by incorporating feedback, learning from previous estimates, and leveraging technology.
    • Stay updated with industry trends, pricing, and new materials.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain a detailed and organized database of all estimates, ensuring that all documents are properly archived and easily retrievable.
    • Provide regular reporting on estimation accuracy, variance analysis, and any other KPIs set by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in estimation, preferably in the railings or related industry.
    • Proficient in estimation software and tools.
    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical documents.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
